On Monday my fianc!e and I were involved in an accident. We were queuing on an exit slip road of the m4 motorway, completely stopped, when a car travelling at high speed hit us from behind, shunting us forward into a car infront. The emergency services had to cut off our roof and we were taken on sPinal boards to a and e. luckily the worst injury we actually have between us is my fIancees few broken ribs and lots of bruises and whiplash.
Anyway, there's been quite a fuss with my insurance company, Hastings direct. I rePorted the claim Tuesday morning and told someone would contact me in 24 hOurs to arrange courtesy car etc. nobody did. I phoned them again and was told there was no record of the claim. So i reported it again. Then i was told it was my job to have the third parties details even though I was cut out of the vehicle and the police was dealing with it. I managed to get the car registration number then from the scrap yard where both cars are. Hastings are now telling me that the third parties insurance company have not been notified of the crash, and until the driver does so they are unable to progress my claim further. Is this correct? I always thought they should be getting on with givin me a courtesy car and assessing the damage etc without waiting for the thirdparty. What happens if this other drivers never tells her insurance company, does that mean I can't claim? Because that's what Hastings are telling me! |
