Hi,
My car insurance with the Green Insurance Company was up for renewal while I still had a claim outstanding. The premium had gone up by almost £300. I called the company and complained, they said that until claims are settled they are treated as 50/50 fault which was why my premium had increased, and that when the claim was settled, my premium would come down as the accident was not my fault. I had a letter today with my new reduced quote - £38. Which means my premium is still £260 more expensive than last year. This, apparently, is the best they can do. They told me when I wanted to cancel that I would have to declare the accident on any comparison site because it would affect my premiums. I asked them why, they said they didn't know. Can someone please explain to me why I have to pay an increased premium because I had an accident that was not my fault? And why do I have to declare it? Surely a non-fault accident is the same as not having an accident? My NCB has not been affected. |
